What is it with kid snacks that make mamas go glutton all the sudden?! ‘One for you and the other fifty for me!” Katie admits her addiction and tries to regain control of her nibbling ways…

Alright, I have a confession to make…

I love kids’ snacks!

There, I said it. I feel better now.

But this secret indulgence began before I was a mother. I’m ashamed to say it, but one of my favorite parts of babysitting was trying out new kids’ snacks. I feel like a glutton to admit it. But it’s true. I’m a habitual snacker. And those bite-size goodies are irresistable to me! Is there a recovery group for this?

Now that my boy is to the age that he eats real food, I have no problem in helping him finish off his snack-meals.

Cheddar cheese melted on bread and cut into bite-size pieces. Chunks of watermelon. Vanilla yogurt. Apple cinnamon rice cakes. Flavored crackers…

How am I supposed to set out these goodies without taking a taste, or two, or five, or six, myself?

And my greatest weakness, which is always on hand at home and on-the-go… Cheerios! They are the perfect size for my boy to feed himself, and they’re healthy, right? Well, I’ve always been keen on grains. And I can’t help but pop a couple handfuls in when I get them out.

Recently I made a brilliant discovery while surveying the pantry. Semisweet chocolate mini morsels mixed in with dry Cheerios… mmmmmm!

So now that I’ll be feeding my child 4-5 snack-meals a day, I know that I’ve got to draw the line somewhere and get a grip on some self-control. Help me!
