Alright, it’s that time of year again – time to make those New Year’s resolutions and vow that this year you will make the change.

Forgive me for sounding a bit jaded, but how many times have we been down this road before? Given two or three weeks, many of us fall right off that band wagon into a muddy pothole of impatience, self-pity and hot fudge. No wonder that after only a few cycles of this backwards behavior, you’re less and less eager to board the Resolution party train.

Well, not this year. Seven months after having C, it’s about time I box the pregnancy clothes and hangup the word ‘postpartum’ for good. Those five hundred extra calories needed to breastfeed are no excuse for polishing off a pint of ice cream a week. Rocking her to sleep at night does not qualify as cardio and since she’s grown so much I can no longer carry the carseat around, there goes my sorry excuse for strength training.

No sir. I refuse to let this flabby shadow of my former self become the new norm. It’s time to bring out the big guns and return us all to our former glory. And our greatest weapon this time around? Say hello to accountability.

The best shape I’ve ever been in involved a year long partnership/competition with my husband to see who would break first. Given that we’re both very competitive and stubborn people who hate to lose, we made it well past our original goal. For me, there was no greater motivation than having my husband weigh me in each week (a very scary thought at the moment). So this time around, I’m enlisting a few friends to make sure I hit the mark again.

Thanks to our very clever girl, Mandy – we at Mama Moderne are kicking off ‘The Weight We Were Fitness Challenge’ on January 3rd. Together, I have no doubt we’ll succeed. We’ll be keeping each other accountable with a weekly journal and very visible stats. To kick start the challenge, the month of January will also take on a fitness theme – featuring healthy recipes and video posts of exercises you can do with your little one… so no more excuses.

The best part of this challenge, you’re all welcome to join in! New mamas or old, wannabes or papas, lots to lose or just a few pounds… everyone’s invited. Commit to only 90 days of hard work and I promise you’ll be very glad you did. If you’re interested in keeping an online journal, just let us know and we’ll add you to The Challenge page. Plus, to help keep your eyes on the prize… there will be a very special gift for all those who reach their goal at the end of 90 days (and no, I promise it won’t it be a box of chocolates!).

So, are you game? Register today to get started!

See you on the other side of 15 pounds!
