Too funny, Sarah – and oh so true! Long gone are the days of primping and pampering ourselves for hours. Nowadays, we’ll take every precious minute we can get!
Ode to the Shower
Oh shower, how I missed you so
A day has past and I’ve lost my glow.
I never know the length of time
I’ll get to relax, shimmer and shine.
Before the baby it was just you and me
No timeline, no limit – I was free!
Hot sudsy luffas are memories in the past
The baby is sleeping so I gotta go fast
Throughout the day I accumulate smells of all sorts
From spit up and tinkle to drool and brown-stained shorts
I don’t need long, ten minutes is all I’m seeking
It’s just that the day flew by and I’m afraid that’s me reeking
If I must choose between a shower and a nap
You’ll always win – I won’t fall for that trap!
To chisel away what is often unseen
The nap must wait until I‘m fully clean
Oh shower, how I thank you so
Wow, I can’t believe it – you brought back my glow
A new woman at last, I can return to a smiling bundle of fun
A little person whose mommy is, once again ready to run

Awesome! What a great way of expressing our frustration with time. And what a poetic vein.
